Dare to be Different! was originally started in 2015 to help Kai Kelly, a transgender member of the Williamsport community. Struggling with the hardships of being someone who is transgender is difficult enough without the added financial hit of crucial medications and procedures. The tole that these hardships take often leave it difficult for one to advocate for one's self. Kai reached out and his friends helped him throw the first ever Dare to be Different Benefit, raising life-changing funds that have been critical in helping Kai with his medical transition. The very next year, he continued his efforts, with two major differences. This time we would do it under The Spectrum Alliances banner, and we would select an applicant from Williamsport's transgender community.
In 2016, Quinn Foster was selected to be the beneficiary of the 2nd Annual Dare to be Different Benefit. Where we raised approximately $800 toward his transition.
Now we want to help someone else!
